Overview
Cheekha Dar is widely recognized as the highest peak in Iraq. It rises in the high Zagros along the border zone between the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and western Iran.
The mountain is known for rugged terrain, long winter snow cover, and remote routes used by climbers and hikers.
Landscape and Culture
The surrounding highlands are sparsely populated and feature alpine meadows in summer. Cheekha Dar has become a symbol of Kurdish mountaineering and the region’s dramatic topography.
